Abby's 1st Birthday

It is hard to believe that not too long ago, Abby's mom and dad

were celebrating her arrival with a baby shower cake that I made

for the occasion.

The cake was vanilla and chocolate marble with Italian Meringue Icing.

This is what Abby's mom, Victoria had to say about the cake.

"Thank you so much for Abby's birthday cake & cupcakes. I couldn't have

asked for anything better. Both cake and cupcakes went beyond my expectations

& every single on of my guests were so impressed with how they came out. I

received an endless amount of compliments. Abby, Peter and myself appreciate

every last bit of work you put into it and can't wait to meet up with you on our

next cake order. Your work is awesome!"

Minnie the Mouse

I can't take credit for the original design of the cake and cupcakes. A client presented me with a picture of what she wanted and I duplicated it. Sometimes, it is what the client desires.

Made from scratch Strawberry marble cake with cream cheese filling and Italian Meringue Icing.

This is what the client had to say...."Hey Vicky, I just wanted to let you know your cake was a hit, everyone loved it. They thought it looked adorable. Thank you so much, again. By the way...they were asking for more cupcakes and

cake by the end of the night:)-Karla

Birthday Cake

A Princess birthday cake for a Princess!

I made the tiara out of fondant and gumpaste.

The cake was white cake, with strawberry cream

filling, topped with Swiss Meringue.

Who is the Sin City Mad Baker?

Aug. 2006, I left a 6 figure job as a District Sales Manager for a leading supplier of interior design products. On the surface I had success...awards and the financial trappings that come along with success....but on the inside, I longed for creativity, fun and breaking free from corporate slavery.

While visiting a local bookstore in July of 2006, a vision out of the corner of my eye caught my attention. It was Debbie Brown's little red book, "Naughty Cakes." Amazed at the wonderful things that could be done with cake it turned out to be my introduction to Sugar Arts and the first of many books purchased over the years.

I quickly enrolled in classes at Joann's Fabrics and took Courses 1 and 2 in cake decorating. The classes were not moving along fast enough, so I made a decision that would open a magnificent new world to me. I signed up to take classes at Wilton Headquarters in Sept-Oct 2006, and spent 6 weeks at their headquarters studying Wilton's "Master Course", "The Lambeth and Australian Methods", ""Intro to Fondant", "Intro to Gumpaste", "Sugar Artistry", "Gumpaste & Fondant with Colette Peter's" and finally "Advanced Gumpaste & Fondant with Colette Peter's.

The 6 weeks spent at Wilton laid a solid foundation and put me on a path which has lead to discovering new cake artists and studying with other cake decorating masters, including, Bronwen Weber, Norm Davis, Colette Peters and the one who sparked my career....Debbie Brown.

As a result of my new found passion, I enrolled in the Pastry Arts program in Aug. 2008, at the College of Southern Nevada, excelling in a rigorous program. In May of 2011, I graduated with High Honors. While attending school, many opportunities were presented, including the opportunity to open the Aria Resort in City Center as a baker for Jean Philippe Patisserie, working for the largest cupcakery in the country, and currently as a union baker for a prestigious resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
