I'm pretty new to the Blogging community, and I too am addicted/obsessed/In Love with cake decorating, sugar art, etc.

I was poking around on your site that I literally stumbled upon and was wondering if you could send me the chocolate cake & icing recipe? It sounds wonderful and I'm dying to try it out.

Thanks and please take a peek at my site as well: Cupping of the Cake

Thanks!!!

Hi Melissa,

The most simple chocolate cake to make is to use a devil's food chocolate box mix, 1 small box of instant chocolate pudding, 4 chopped squares of Baker's Chocolate (any type of chocolate you prefer), 1 cup of sour cream, 4 eggs, 1/2 cup of oil, 1/4 cup of Kahlua, 1/4 cup of water (or you could use 1/2 cup of Kahlua(or if you don't want to use Kahlua, use 1/2 cup of strong coffee....Mix well and bake 16-18 minutes on 350 for cupcakes, and 20-25 minutes on 350 for an 8" cake....You have to test out the temp on your oven..these are according to my oven's temp:)

***I usually bake everything from scratch and have several recipes that I use*****but the recipe above is a great place to start:)

I use a very simple chocolate icing...5 cups of confectioner's sugar, 3/4 cup of cocoa(I mix my cocoa and powdered sugar together first) , 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, 1/4 tsp of butter extract, 1/4 tsp of almond extract, 1/2 cup of vegetable shortening, 1/2 cup of butter or margarine, and 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sour cream....cream butter, shortening, sour cream, add extracts...add cocoa and sugar, 1 cup at a time, making sure to scrape down the sides...I also mix in at least 2-4 tablespoons of milk.

I can't wait to hear what you think!
